Main Bathroom Renovation, Regents Park

Bathroom · Regents Park · $30k–$60k · Modern

A modern bathroom renovation in Regents Park, Sydney — the brief our client came to us with, what our licensed team found once the on-site inspection was done, the work carried out, and the result.

The problem

The original 1980s bathroom had a leaking shower base and dated fittings the owners wanted replaced before listing spare bedrooms as a home office. Like a lot of older Sydney homes, the bathroom hadn't been touched since the house was built, and the ageing waterproofing was starting to show it.

What we found on inspection

The existing waterproofing membrane had failed at the shower hob, with moisture tracking into the subfloor — a common finding in Sydney homes of this era, where original membranes are well past their design life. The layout itself was workable — the fix was a full strip-out and re-waterproof rather than a patch job, so the new membrane could be tested and certified before any tiling started.

What we did

Full strip-out to the studs, new waterproofing membrane installed and tested to Australian Standards before tiling, relocated shower to a frameless glass screen, new vanity, and a back-to-wall toilet with an in-wall cistern. All plumbing and waterproofing work was completed and signed off by our licensed team before the room was closed up.

Outcome

No more leaks, a brighter layout from the frameless screen, and a waterproofing certificate on file for the sale — the kind of documentation Sydney buyers and building inspectors expect to see for a wet-area renovation.
